5 lbs

Today is day #8 of getting back into shape and I want to crawl into a hole!  I dropped the kids off at the daycare and headed to the gym this morning to do weight resistance training on my arms,shoulders and back.  I am only weighing myself once a week so that I don't get obsessed with my weight but encouraged by the results each week.  After doing my workout I headed over to the scales to see how much weight I had lost in a week, only to find I've gained 5 lbs!  I've just been stabbed in my heart after looking at the numbers.  How in the world have I gained this much weight in less than a week?  I really hope that it's just water weight with some muscle weight and it's going to be gone by the end of the week. 
So, I'm going to go against my "only weigh myself at the beginning of each week" rule and re-weigh on Sunday.

Day #8: 
Weight: 215lbs
Workout: 30 min of weight training on arms,shoulders and back 
Mentality: Discouraged

  1. You are such an encouragement Robin (granted I haven't had a baby, but need the encouragement to get into shape). Are you sure that 5 lbs isn't muscle that you are building? Thanks for being real! Love ya friend!!

  2. Hey Girl! Don't be discouraged by the weight fluctuation. A lot could be dependent on what you had to eat the night before or even in the morning before stepping on the scale. To get the most accurate weigh-ins, it is best to always do it at the same time each week.... and always first thing in the morning before you've had anything to eat. You can do it! And remember that you're gorgeous inside and out NO MATTER WHAT!

  3. Hang in there Robin! Try not to get too discouraged. Probably gained some muscle. Also, try to go by how your clothes are fitting - if something was tight before keep an eye on how they start to loosen up:)

  4. Girls, thank you for the encouraging words! Keeli I think I am going to purchase my own scale instead of using the gyms so I can weigh myself first thing in the AM. Trace, you don't have to be a mom to hop on this with me! Love you girls

  5. Robin--best thing I ever did for myself was to purchase my digital scale! Every Tuesday morning, first thing I do... AFTER going pee...and stripped down to my underwear...is weigh myself. LOL

  7. I have...um, one second, let me go check:) It's a Taylor brand one from Target--I think it was like 25 bucks...doesn't do exact grams, but does do the half pound thing...
